Welcome to the show.
Speaker ATired of the hype about living the dream?
Speaker AIt's time for truth.
Speaker AThis is the place for tools, power, and real talk, so you can create the life you dream and deserve your ultimate life.
Speaker ASubscribe, share, create.
Speaker AYou have infinite power.
Speaker AHi there.
Speaker AWelcome to your ultimate life today.
Speaker ALove being with you.
Speaker ALove the podcast format because several reasons.
Speaker AOne, it makes me think all the time about what can I give you?
Speaker ABecause, you know, podcasts.
Speaker AWe don't sell podcasts.
Speaker AThey're free and they're everywhere.
Speaker AAnd now I love that because, you know, my commitment this year is to reach 300 million people.
Speaker AMy year started 10 days ago to reach 300 million people.
Speaker ATo do what?
Speaker AWell, to give you a message.
Speaker AThe message is this really simple.
Speaker AYou can have the wealth and impact in the world you want to have if you're willing to do the work, and if you start with the raw materials of your skills that you've developed, the gifts that you naturally have, and you know you have them, and weave in the most important thing, which is your life experience.
Speaker ABecause it's our life experience that gives us the insight, the maturity, the wisdom, and generates the power.
Speaker ASo I'll give you an example.
Speaker AI had a friend who quit smoking.
Speaker AThis is in the 80s.
Speaker AAnd after that, it's notorious that ex smokers are the worst for complaining about smoke.
Speaker AAnd that may be true, and maybe it's because of their previous addiction and so they don't want to be around it, but they're also really good at helping others have the motivation and power to quit.
Speaker AWhy?
Speaker ABecause they.
Speaker AThey have overcome this.
Speaker AThey have done this.
Speaker AThe 12 step program works the same.
Speaker AI have a dear friend.
Speaker AA dear.
Speaker AIt's not a friend.
Speaker ARelative.
Speaker AA dear relative who right this minute is active as a sponsor in the 12 step program groups that they belong to.
Speaker AWhat is that?
Speaker AWell, our ability to love and serve depends on our willingness to serve.
Speaker ASo this particular individual not only use the process of 12 steps to eliminate addictions that they had and that were wrecking their life, and is now serving lovingly, fiercely, busily as a sponsor to others.
Speaker ASo that the life experience portion, your triple Helix, is the skills that you've developed.
Speaker AMaybe you've been selling in the marketplace, maybe you went to college, trade school, whatever, but skills that you've got, gifts that you have which augment and make your skills more valuable, and then your life experience, which often provides the engine.
Speaker ANow, you've heard all that before.
Speaker AIf you've listened to other episodes and if you haven't Go back and find the one on the Triple Helix.
Speaker AThe Triple Helix.
Speaker ABecause people tell me all the time I don't know what to do.
Speaker AI don't know what my passion is.
Speaker AI don't know what my calling is or similar words.
Speaker ARight?
Speaker AWell, here's the truth.
Speaker AYou have one.
Speaker AI don't know if you know what it is, if you feel it, if you doubt it, or if you've discovered it, but you have it.
Speaker AAnd the reason that's important is because when you latch on to that, it's fun and easy to stay motivated and focused on what you're trying to do.
Speaker ANow, a mistake that I made when I found I didn't find it, discovered, declared my own purpose, was that I expected everything to be easy and cash to come flowing in because I've found my purpose.
Speaker AThings grow at the speed they grow.
Speaker AAnd finding our purpose, especially using that power of our life experience, helps us stay motivated, focused and engaged.
Speaker ABut it doesn't guarantee results.
Speaker AIn any particular timeframe, I learned that the universe or God or the divine, I call him my heavenly Father, but God works on his own timeframe.
Speaker ALike, I don't decide the timeframe and the manner of the growth.
Speaker AThe size and timing is not all up to me by any stretch.
Speaker AAnd making my peace with that gave me really peace.
Speaker AMaking my peace with that truth gave me internal peace and gives power to the peace of my PTAC that says I am become complete inner peace.
Speaker AI have no nothing but peace in my life from first breath to last.
Speaker AEvery day.
Speaker AI am completely present in each moment, guided by spirit, free, unattached, and loving.
Speaker AWhat is.
Speaker AThose two statements are hard fought, at least for me.
Speaker AThey were hard fought, hard to come by.
Speaker ABut now that I have them, it makes life joyful every day.
Speaker ASo today, what I want to talk about is not.
Speaker AThat's a setup.
Speaker AThat's sort of the basket in which we're going to get to this.
Speaker AAnd I named this episode Small and Simple Things because we live in a world where it feels like you got to do these gigantic grandiose moves.
Speaker AWe have enshrined that principle and the idea of take massive action.
Speaker AWell, there's nothing wrong with big action.
Speaker AAnd I think we should.
Speaker AIn fact, the group that I belong to, one of the leaders in that group says devote an hour every week to just taking some big move.
Speaker AShe called it the big move hour.
Speaker AOne big move that if it works, will change the game completely.
Speaker AWell, I love that idea.
Speaker AWhat's a big move that's in the massive Action thing.
Speaker AAnd we're not going to talk about big moves today.
Speaker AThat might be a great topic for another.
Speaker AAnother episode about what are big moves?
Speaker AHow do you find them, how do you take them?
Speaker AAnd how do you be content or not wrecked if and how they don't do exactly what you want?
Speaker AThat's another episode.
Speaker AToday I want to talk about the other kind of action that is guaranteed.
Speaker ABig moves are not guaranteed.
Speaker AWhat we're going to talk about today is guaranteed to produce results for you.
Speaker AGuaranteed small and simple steps.
Speaker ASo not dissing the principle of massive action.
Speaker ABut that's a different topic today we're going to talk about small and simple steps.
Speaker AAnd I want to tell you a story.
Speaker AWhen I was a kid, we had a record.
Speaker ARemember record players and vinyl, you know, you may not remember those, depending on your age, but we had a record.
Speaker AAnd the entire record on both sides was a fellow named Danny K.
Speaker AAnd he was a.
Speaker AAn actor, comedian and a stage performer.
Speaker AVaudeville even of quite some time ago, many years ago.
Speaker ASo he was already older when I was a kid.
Speaker ASo he's long dead.
Speaker ABut anyway, he was a good storyteller.
Speaker AAnd the whole record on both sides were stories, folk stories and all kinds of stuff.
Speaker AAnd I remember them because we used to listen.
Speaker AI used to love to just put that record on and listen to him tell the stories.
Speaker AAnd there were three or four on each side.
Speaker AIt's a fabulous memory, the stories from growing up.
Speaker AI love the stories and the morals and stuff.
Speaker AOne of them was called the Name of the Tree.
Speaker AThe Name of the Tree.
Speaker AAnd it told a story about in a desert village.
Speaker AIt may have been set in Africa, but I don't remember.
Speaker AJungle, not desert jungle, I think.
Speaker ABut anyway, there was a tree and there were all the animals around the tree and the animals depended on the tree for fruit.
Speaker AAnd it was not like a normal tree.
Speaker AIt had all kinds of fruit, of flavors, and provided food and sustenance, you know, for the animals.
Speaker AAnd so every year the chief of the animals, it didn't say if it was a lion or not, but whatever would say the name of the tree.
Speaker AAnd when he said the name of the tree, all the fruit would fall.
Speaker ANow something happened and the chief suddenly died before he was able to pass on the name of the tree to the next person in line.
Speaker ASo it got to be, you know, really concerning.
Speaker ANobody could say the tree's name.
Speaker AAnd so the fruit didn't fall.
Speaker ASo the village got together to have a council and they decided, you know, who are we going to send.
Speaker ABecause the only way they could get the name of the tree was to go talk to some mysterious chief over the mountain.
Speaker AOoh.
Speaker AAnd it was, you know, very mysterious and far journey and everything.
Speaker ASo they sent one animal, I can't remember which one.
Speaker AIt was a fox because he was clever and he got sidetracked chasing other animals and so came back and couldn't remember the name of the tree.
Speaker AI was getting really desperate.
Speaker ASo they also sent the tortoise, or not the tortoise, but the hare, the, you know, rabbit, because really fast.
Speaker ASo off he went and the rabbit came.
Speaker AHe tripped on the way back and banged his head, couldn't remember the name of the tree.
Speaker ASo the tortoise said, I'll go.
Speaker AAnd everybody laughed their butts off, right?
Speaker AHa ha, ha.
Speaker AYou'll never make it.
Speaker AYou'll never remember.
Speaker AIt's too slow.
Speaker ABut they decided, you know, the others have failed.
Speaker ASo they went, they went, the tortoise went long, arduous journey, got to the chief under the mountain.
Speaker AOn the record, it had all this rumbling.
Speaker AWhat is the name of the tree?
Speaker AAnd the chief under the mountain said, that tree is called Uwangalema.
Speaker AAnd the tortoise said, uwangalema.
Speaker AO Angalema.
Speaker AO Angalema.
Speaker AI'll repeat it all the way home.
Speaker ASo the tortoise starts on the way home and repeating the tree, all the way home, all the way on the way.
Speaker AAnd it got hot in the day and it was, you know, someone said, you know, it's really hot.
Speaker AWhy don't you stop and rest?
Speaker AAnd the tortoise looked up and said, uwangalema.
Speaker AAnd kept moving on.
Speaker AAnd it was thirsty.
Speaker AAnd someone said, go over here, you know, some other temptation or reason to stop.
Speaker AAnd u Angalema.
Speaker AAnd he kept going all the way, kept repeating, repeating.
Speaker AAnd of course, the moral of the story is he got all the way home.
Speaker AAnd everybody said, tell us the name.
Speaker ATell us the name of the tree.
Speaker AAll the fruit fell down and fed everybody.
Speaker ASo that was the point.
Speaker AAnd of course, the point of the story was that the tortoise wouldn't be deterred by anything.
Speaker AHeat of day, setbacks, thirst, nothing was going to stop them.
Speaker AAnd at every interference, instead of even engaging in conversation about the possible distraction, the tortoise said, oo, Angalema.
Speaker AAnd that was his only answer and kept moving.
Speaker ASo this.
Speaker AAnd, you know, we know the story of the tortoise and the hare.
Speaker AThe tortoise wins the race eventually because the hare gets sidetracked.
Speaker AAnd this was kind of like that.
Speaker AAlthough there were three or four animals involved and they failed for different reasons.
Speaker AThe point is really clear.
Speaker AIt is slow and steady.
Speaker AIt is one small step at a time.
Speaker AIt is don't brook any.
Speaker ABrook is a word that I love means.
Speaker ADon't accept any internal nonsense, any distractions.
Speaker AJust don't like you make a choice about what you're doing and like the lesson I've learned, the manner of its manifestation, your goal, the size and the timing.
Speaker AYou know, I started with that thought in terms of prayer.
Speaker ASo I would pray to God.
Speaker AAnd sometimes I used to think that prayer and God and stuff is kind of like a cosmic vending machine.
Speaker AYou go make a prayer, and if God's hearing you that day, you'll get cha ching, you'll get your candy bar.
Speaker AAnd it isn't.
Speaker AWe do not understand all the intricacies of how the entire eternity scheme works.
Speaker AHere's what I've learned.
Speaker ASo I'm not going to tell you how to do something, but I'm going to tell you what I've learned and what I do.
Speaker AWhat I've learned is I work.
Speaker AI have a goal.
Speaker AIn this case, my goal is 300 million people this year to help you not just understand that you have the ability to create your ultimate life.
Speaker AIncome, impact, joy, no matter what your circumstance, but also to help you do it.
Speaker APodcast episodes.
Speaker AI've got products, services, the URL on the screen.
Speaker AKellenflukegermedia.com Kellenflukegermedia.com Go there.
Speaker AThere's tons of stuff there.
Speaker AYourUltimate Life ca five master keys to your ultimate life.
Speaker AOkay, there's just lots of things, but go to kellenfluekigermedia.com and you can see them all.
Speaker AAnd you can say, oh, I don't want to buy a book, or I don't want.
Speaker AOkay, I'm offering them to you because it's what I've Learned in the 17 years since the end of 2007.
Speaker AI'm now working on my 18th year because it was August that this started and I'm recording this toward the end of October.
Speaker AIt's everything that I have learned.
Speaker ABooks on forgiveness and on results and on how to write books and on Drawn a Blank, My own personal story, Depression and addictions and other struggles.
Speaker ABooks on meditation.
Speaker AI've got 20, and every one of them is to offer you some help in specifying and taking those small and simple steps.
Speaker ASo my thing about, you know, my learning is the manner of the response of the divine.
Speaker AThe universe.
Speaker AWe all know that when we lean in law of attraction, when we visualize, and when we energetically accept and live in the promise fulfilled.
Speaker AYou know those kinds of phrases, that it really has an impact on others, on circumstances, on energies, and on our own attitude.
Speaker AAll those things conspire to cause things to happen.
Speaker ABut I don't know, we don't know exactly the manner, the size or the timing.
Speaker AThe manner means how the.
Speaker AHow the growth or the blessing or the opportunity will come.
Speaker AThe size, like the manner.
Speaker ASize and time.
Speaker AI want a box of gold bars on my porch worth a billion dollars in the morning.
Speaker AThat's manner, size and time.
Speaker ARight.
Speaker AIt doesn't work like that.
Speaker AYou know it and I know it because of how many times we thought it did.
Speaker AAnd it doesn't.
Speaker ASo here's what I've learned.
Speaker AJust take small and simple steps right now, every day, and keep doing it no matter what.
Speaker AOne more step.
Speaker AOne more step.
Speaker AYeah, you got to rest.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AYou got to take care of the things of life around you.
Speaker ASomebody gets sick, you got to make some more money over here.
Speaker ABut if you've got a goal, keep going one step.
Speaker AOne step.
Speaker AAnd make a choice not to be discouraged.
Speaker AThat was a big bugaboo for me.
Speaker AThings didn't happen the way I thought they ought to.
Speaker ACome on, I've done everything.
Speaker AWhat's the problem?
Speaker AI don't know.
Speaker AAnd I got completely comfortable just saying I don't know.
Speaker ABut I'm not stopping, right?
Speaker ANot stopping.
Speaker AI'm not stopping no matter what.
Speaker AAll right?
Speaker ASo that's one thing.
Speaker AAnother thing is I want you to think about how growth really happens in the world, okay?
Speaker AIf I plant a tree, depending on the species and everything, it might grow a little bit.
Speaker AA little bit.
Speaker AA little bit, A little bit.
Speaker AAnd a few years later, there it is.
Speaker AThere's a big tree and a big tree.
Speaker AYou know, when you look at.
Speaker AEspecially if you go out in the countryside and you look at a farmhouse or a ranch house out there surrounded by tall trees, you know, somebody built that thing X years ago, planted all those trees and waited 20 years and didn't worry about it knowing that they were growing, right?
Speaker ASo growth is gradual no matter what.
Speaker AAnd I have another little funny story.
Speaker AAbout a month ago, a little over, I fell down in the garage.
Speaker AI went down the steps and didn't see something, kicked the rug or whatever, fell down and I bumped my knee, my left knee.
Speaker AAnd I didn't think anything of it.
Speaker AIt wasn't bleeding.
Speaker ABut somehow I did Some damage trauma to the knee underneath.
Speaker AAnd then it got infected.
Speaker ASo over the next week, it gradually began to swell up and pretty soon under my kneecap I had this big bump that was about the size of a golf ball under my kneecap, not under it, but down about an inch below my kneecap.
Speaker AAnd it was ugly and it was purple and you know, and finally, you know, Joyce saw it and said, you know, that looks infected.
Speaker AAnd it didn't feel like when you touched it, like infected things feel.
Speaker ABut I knew something was wrong.
Speaker ASo we went to the doctor and he said clearly infected, infected, infected.
Speaker ASo he gave me a course, 10 day course of really strong antibiotics and because he was considering sending me to the hospital.
Speaker AAnd then I went to a naturopath to get an ozone infusion, because I do that thing from time to time, and a Myers cocktail, which is an infusion of vitamins before I go on a trip, make sure I stay healthy, given my medical history.
Speaker ABut anyway, he also lanced the naturopath, took a needle and lanced it and nothing came out.
Speaker AAnd we thought, you know, there could be an explosion of infected stuff.
Speaker ADa, da, da.
Speaker AAnd he said, wow, nothing's there.
Speaker AA little blood came out.
Speaker ASo it wasn't infected in that way.
Speaker AMy point about the structure story is it took three, now four weeks.
Speaker AGradually, the 10 day course of antibiotics got over.
Speaker AGradually it got smaller and smaller and smaller.
Speaker AAnd it's not gone today.
Speaker AIt's a month in counting.
Speaker AIt's still there, noticeably bigger than the, you know, an inch below my right knee, but there it is.
Speaker ANow, if I had been frustrated with the, with the pace of healing, I could have allowed that to frustrate me and make me have bad days or how come, how come the.
Speaker AIt's going to work so you keep going.
Speaker AMy reaching 300 million people, if I thought it ought to happen a certain way or at a certain trajectory.
Speaker ACome on, I've done this 100, 200, 300, 500 times.
Speaker AThis is my third year of having a big goal.
Speaker AHow come we haven't reached the hockey stick?
Speaker AHey, it is what it is and I'm going to keep doing it.
Speaker AAnd so I offer you that as just observations about my own growth, my own life, my coaching practice, the books that I'm writing, the music that I do, and by way of encouragement.
Speaker AYou are divine.
Speaker AYou have gifts and talents.
Speaker AYou have the ability to change the world.
Speaker AIf you want help with any of those, this is exactly what I do.
Speaker AAnd it's all I do.
Speaker AI help you See your divinity, your capability and your possibility.
Speaker AThen I help you with frameworks and tools that melt barriers, move mountains, mobilize superpowers to eliminate fear and obliterate doubt.
Speaker AWhy?
Speaker ASo you can be who you want to be.
Speaker AAnd this is all a little piece of it.
Speaker ASo the gradual process is really important.
Speaker AI have another couple of examples.
Speaker AI have a client who runs an import business and it involves him being in Mexico a lot.
Speaker ASo he decided I'm going to learn Spanish because I think it'll help me in my business dealings.
Speaker ASo he started with a little phone app and small and simple things.
Speaker ANow it is over 2,000 days.
Speaker ALast time I checked with him, 21, 20, 200.
Speaker AThat's six or seven years or eight years.
Speaker AEvery day a few minutes.
Speaker AAnd guess what?
Speaker APretty darn conversant, guess what it's done for his business.
Speaker AAll the Mexican people that are the other end of the business, the import business, they all want to talk to him.
Speaker AThey look forward to him.
Speaker AHe's a celebrity in the little towns.
Speaker AEverybody knows who he is.
Speaker AWhy?
Speaker ABecause he speaks to them.
Speaker AHe talks to them, he's with them one day at a time.
Speaker AAnd if you're standing at the front of that and you say 2,000 days, seven years, I can never wait that long.
Speaker ANonsense.
Speaker AThe seven years or 1,000 days or 2,000, they're going by either way.
Speaker AWhat are you going to do with him?
Speaker AI got another client who does art and he many years ago now took up the thing.
Speaker AI'm going to do art every day.
Speaker AAnd he did over 4,010 years, every day, daily art creation.
Speaker AIt honed his craft, it made him better, et cetera, et cetera.
Speaker AYou get the picture.
Speaker AWe live in a world of everything's got to be instant.
Speaker AI've got to be able to snap my fingers, download and double click.
Speaker AReal growth doesn't work like that.
Speaker AYes, things happen and a video will go viral.
Speaker ABut you know what I can tell you I have another friend who's not a client, but who runs the largest video YouTube video conference in the world and has for 10 years.
Speaker AI went to the very first one and then I went to the next seven.
Speaker AAnd I was an emcee and met a lot of people, including, you know, Mr.
Speaker ABeast and folks like that.
Speaker AWhat I can tell you is he says and shows person after person that's on the stage in this three day conference, three rooms full of stages.
Speaker AI mean people after people got to keep going, got to keep going.
Speaker AYour first hundred videos are going to suck.
Speaker AThey Won't matter then the next hundred.
Speaker AGary Vaynerchuk talks about he did a thousand videos video a day for three years before anything even happened.
Speaker ANow he's, you know, one of the most prominent social media influencers in the world.
Speaker AWhy?
Speaker ABecause he did a thousand videos, then kept on going.
Speaker ASo you can choose to be discouraged or you can choose to just move in.
Speaker AAnd now here's what else I know from that video guy is videos go viral now and then you'll see a funny cat video or someone that catches a moment.
Speaker AGot plenty of wars and conflicts and the crazy presidential race that's going on in the US right now.
Speaker AYou know, I live in Canada, but I'm a US citizen.
Speaker AMy wife and I are both dual national and we're watching that craziness unfold.
Speaker ABoy, I can't wait for that to be over.
Speaker AElections right quick.
Speaker ASo I'm recording this before, but you won't see it till after the election.
Speaker AAnyway, my point is this.
Speaker AThere can be a viral video.
Speaker APeople think, oh, if I get that one viral thing, I'm set for life.
Speaker ANo, you're not.
Speaker A90 plus percent of videos that go viral, for some reason interesting people share, it triggers the algorithm.
Speaker ATheir owners do not make a bunch of money.
Speaker AThey do not follow it up.
Speaker ANot because they couldn't have.
Speaker AThey don't do the small and simple things afterwards.
Speaker AThe stories of people who had their time on the Oprah show.
Speaker AYou know, they thought, well, if I get on there, I've got it made.
Speaker ANo, they weren't ready.
Speaker AThey didn't do the small and simple things afterwards.
Speaker AYeah, they got a flood of attention and phone calls and da, da, da.
Speaker ABut their website, their customer service team, their stuff wasn't ready.
Speaker ASo they went boom.
Speaker AAnd then just as quick boom back down.
Speaker AWhy?
Speaker AThe small and simple things weren't done.
Speaker AYou don't want to be that.
Speaker ASo I don't know when your big explosion might take place.
Speaker AI know that it won't take place unless you do the buildup and the small and simple things.
Speaker AI know that even if it does happen, if you don't have your foundation in place or I don't, it won't matter because you'll crash and burn just like those folks who have viral videos or have appeared in the past on something like the Oprah show or whatever.
Speaker ASo they got their big hit and boost and then nothing because they weren't ready.
Speaker AHow do you get ready?
Speaker AYou choose your purpose.
Speaker AYou start with the small and simple actions.
Speaker AMy goal of 300 million.
Speaker AYou know there's going to be.
Speaker AThere have been some big boosts in the past and there are going to be more, but I won't be able to use them, capitalize on them to reach more people like you.
Speaker AUnless I do this, unless I give the videos every day, unless I keep the podcast going, unless I find more guests, unless I keep the reach out.
Speaker AWhy?
Speaker ASo that when it happens, and this is true before and now, so I'm not still waiting, but things have happened, but there's more and bigger because my numbers keep going up and I'm ready and I'm making sure that I'm ready.
Speaker AAnd so I'm explaining that the most important thing isn't the big home run.
Speaker AIt is small and simple steps.
Speaker ANow I'm going to take it out of the business and money making frame and put it in one other frame, and that is your own personal development.
Speaker AIf you've got habits or practices you want to change, small and simple is still the way to go.
Speaker A12 step people, when they leave every meeting, they say, here's to another 24.
Speaker ABecause they're recognizing that 24 hours is just the right amount of goal, just the right amount of hard.
Speaker ANobody says for the rest of my life they're aiming for that, but here's to another 24.
Speaker ASo your goal.
Speaker ADo you know what your life purpose is?
Speaker AIf you don't, let's talk because I can help you find it.
Speaker ADo you know what it is?
Speaker AAnd you say, I don't know how to do anything about it.
Speaker AGood.
Speaker ALet's talk.
Speaker ABecause that's my specialty.
Speaker AIf you've started some things and quit, let's talk.
Speaker ABecause that's my specialty.
Speaker AIf you want to write a book about it, let's talk.
Speaker AThat's my specialty.
Speaker AIf you want to create a course, if you want to create a consulting program where you help businesses or companies or individuals, let's talk.
Speaker ABecause I do that.
Speaker AIt's my exactly in my wheelhouse.
Speaker AA keynote, a workshop, a program, an online course that you sell Evergreen so you have passive income.
Speaker AAll of that is exactly what I've done.
Speaker ASmall and simple steps.
Speaker ANow there is a foundation piece that keeps the tortoise moving.
